The Farm Team Endorses Karen Gautney for HD45

The Farm Team is Pleased to Announce the Endorsement of Karen Gautney, Democrat running for the Virginia House of Delegates 45th District

ALEXANDRIA – V.A. – The Farm Team, the pre-eminent organization in Virginia supporting Democratic Women running for elective office is proud to endorse Karen Gautney in the 45th district Democratic caucus, being held on August 2nd from 5:00pm to 9:00pm and August 4th from 10:00am to 5:00pm. The current Delegate of the 45th district, Democrat David Englin, has endorsed Ms. Gautney as well.

Ms. Gautney is not a career politician; her professional background is in law enforcement, non-profit management and social services. In addition to her 5 year stint as an NCIS Agent stationed in London, Washington, D.C and Norfolk, Virginia, Karen has worked extensively with the Office on Women around domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and response. She has been Chair of the Alexandria Human Rights Commission. She currently chairs a task force focused on creating a safe learning environment for youth in public schools and chaired a task force on domestic violence and bullying prevention She has been president of the Alexandria Gay & Lesbian Community Association, and has volunteered at multiple community organizations in the past decade, including the Carpenter’s Shelter.

Ms. Gautney has lived in Alexandria for ten years, after residing in Fairfax County for 11 years. While a difficult election lays ahead, the Farm Team supports Karen Gautney as a passionate, pragmatic, and principled individual who will be a strong voice for the people of the 45th district.

Governor McDonnell’s decision to hold this special election on September 4th, instead of November 6th, has shortened this campaign to a weeklong event.
