Please come to the Princess Anne Courthouse in Virginia Beach this Tues. Nov. 24 morning in the General District/Criminal Court which begins at 9:00 am to support Dottie Holtz. She was arrested and charged with trespassing while at a health care rally at Anthem on Bonnie Road in October. Four police cars rushed to the scene and 6 policemen were present–a foolish waste of city resources in what can be best characterized as a ludicrous “mis-arrest.”
Dottie is a local resident, mother, grandmother and is retired from the Virginia Beach school system after 38 years of committed service. She is passionate in her belief that universal health care for all is the civil rights issue of our era.
Where is the accountability for Anthem and other insurance companies in District 2 where over 78,000 residents are uninsured while Anthem rakes in record profits???
Anthem continues to refuse coverage or charge local residents unrealistic prices for “pre-existing conditions.” One friend with diabetes recently told us that Anthem quoted her monthly coverage at $ 810 with an outrageous annual deductible of $10,000–this is egregious!
The most ironic point is that many pre-existing conditions can be well-managed with proactive care and correct medication. But the reality is that with the current economy insurance and health “care” are not within reach of most people. It is past time for
health insurance overhaul.
With sincere appreciation to Dottie for her courage in taking on Big Insurance. Please come out this Tuesday morning to support her in court. Court begins at 9:00 am.
