This team worked incredibly hard for many months. I’m thankful for your support and proud and I’m humbled by your trust. But, I do not intend to do this alone. In preparation for the upcoming session, I plan to reach out to all of you again, individually and collectively, to understand your priorities and concerns, special expertise, availability and interest in ongoing involvement through the upcoming legislative session and beyond.

I know all too well that the political environment in Richmond–the statewide officeholders & their staffs, lobbyists, legislative colleagues and staffs, agency executives, boards and commissions, etc.–and my own learning curve will likely dominate the agenda. I think that I can–we can— counteract these forces to some degree and create a realistic set of goals based the needs of our community. This has been the way I have tried to be an effective School Board member and the way I think we can be most successful in Richmond.

We took on this challenge to defend and enrich this community that we love. Each of us need to be leaders, as the moment and the challenge requires.

Thomas Jefferson wrote: "Leadership necessitates forging a path: it requires us to accept challenges, to dare to make a difference."

This is a team of leaders that I am proud to be a part of.

Thank you again for your unwavering support.
