Team:

The Washington Post endorsement of my opponent on Friday was disappointing to all of us.  But, I want you to know that the outpouring of supportive responses I’ve received has actually created positive opportunities that I feel sure will exceed the potential downside.  For a really good critique of the Post’s choice see: http://anonymousisawoman.blogspot.com/

Most notably, I’m gratified by the response of my political allies and future colleagues in the legislature, who encouraged us to produce an additional mail piece that will drop next week.  Within 12 hours on a busy Friday our team was able to:

  • Obtain new endorsement statements from Senator Jim Webb, Virginia Senate Majority Leader Dick Saslaw, Senate Caucus Chair Margaret Whipple and Mason District Supervisor Penny Gross;
  • Gather pictures, art and prepare text for the new piece;
  • Secure sign-off from all participants; and,
  • Collect additional contributions that will cover about half of the cost or production and mailing.

Danny Barefoot and the direct mail team did a great job on this effort under difficult circumstances and I am confident that you will be pleased with the result.

On Friday we really turned the team’s performance level up a notch.  I am asking all of my supporters and volunteers to follow suit for this last 10 days before the election.  My priorities will be canvassing and spending time on the phones every day, and we need many volunteers to take on these same jobs to turn out as many Democratic voters as possible.

Kim Smith, our energetic and tenacious Volunteer Coordinator has your number!!  Please save Kim some time and call her directly with your preferred assignments and availability. She can be reached at 703 624 1182.

We also need to raise additional funds to cover the increased expenses of these last few intense weeks of campaigning.  Please contribute now to help us with the final push.

Finally, I’d just like to remind everyone of the stakes we are facing in the statewide contests.  This election is much, much bigger and more important than the 38th District.  Please make the effort to energize one more volunteer, one more contributor and two or three more voters for this race.  Let’s add statewide victories to the victory that I am confident we will achieve in the 38th.

Sincerely,

Kaye Kory
