ALL FIVE PULASKI CONSTITUTIONAL OFFICERS ENDORSE CAROLE PRATT

All five Pulaski County Constitutional officers joined on Wednesday to endorse Dr. Carole Pratt for delegate.  These elected public servants are responsible for many of the operations of our local government.

“I am honored to have the support of the men and women we elect to carry out the people’s business in our district,” said Carole. “These are the tireless individuals who make sure the day-to-day operations of Pulaski County government are seamlessly executed.  I have enjoyed working with these officials on many community projects, and am pleased to receive their endorsement.”

“The energy behind our campaign is growing every day,” added campaign manager Eric Hyers.  “In recent weeks, Carole has earned the support of four mayors, the Virginia Professional Fire Fighters, the Police Benevolent Association and the Roanoke Times.  Now, all five Constitutional officers in Pulaski are supporting Carole as well.  Clearly, her message is resonating all across the district and people are hungry for a new voice in Richmond.”

The officers are:

  • Clerk of Court Maetta Crewe
  • Sheriff Jim Davis
  • Commonwealth’s Attorney Mike Fleenor
  • Commissioner of Revenue Trina Rupe
  • Treasurer Melinda Worrell

Dear Supporter:

Exciting news!  This past weekend Charniele received an endorsement from the Washington Post.  Comparing Charniele to her opponent, the Post called Charniele “a Democrat with long, deep and broad civic experience.”  The Post noted that her opponent “…is a blank slate when it comes to most questions pertaining to Virginia.”

We are facing the toughest economic time since the Great Depression.   Charniele is ready to return to Richmond to represent you.   She is clearly the best qualified candidate to do so.

You have come through for Charniele before and we need your help in these final days with our Get Out the Vote efforts.

This is a critical time for us. Charniele had a close special election in January.  The Republicans believe that Democrats have lost their momentum and will not turn out to vote.  We need your help to prove them wrong. Please contribute $10, $25, $50, $100 or whatever you can to assure Charniele gets to the finish line successfully.

Indefensible

Democratic Party of Virginia

Republican Lt. Governor Bill Bolling is a Vice President at a health insurance company – but he says he’s not an executive. As Lt. Governor, he serves on a number of boards and commissions – like the Virginia Disabilities Commission and the Virginia Military Advisory Council – by law. He says his attendance isn’t "required".

Bolling’s been taking heat from every direction on his record (or lack thereof), and so we’ve prepared this video to help him "respond" to his critics. We may be putting words in his mouth, but they can hardly be more ridiculous than his actual statements.

Please watch the video and make a contribution to my campaign today.

Paying the Bill

The bottom line is that Bolling is a health insurance executive at the same time he’s Lt. Governor (not to mention the fact that he’s taken $160,000 in campaign contributions from health insurance companies and HMO’s). It’s awfully hard to believe that it’s a coincidence that he uses his public office to fight President Obama’s health insurance reform. But we thought we’d let Bill try to convince you himself.

Watch the video here, and don’t forget to make a contribution!
-Jody

Creigh, Birds, Worms, & Ducks

From Kristin Cabral,
Fairfax County Post-Election Canvass Coordinator for the Democratic Party of Virginia:

Have you heard "the early bird catches the worm"?

How about "getting all your ducks in a row"?

We owe Creigh and all Democratic candidates

a fully covered post-election canvass

in every jurisdiction in the Commonwealth

. . . especially in Fairfax County,

the largest jurisdiction and rich in Democratic votes.

The Democrats regret to this day that we did not have the post-election canvasses fully covered by Democratic Party observers in 2005 when Creigh narrowly lost to Bob McDonnell in the AG race.

We will not let this happen again.  Let’s plan ahead of time by signing up to volunteer!

To sign up, please send your name, dates, and hours as well as e-mail address and cell phone number to womendemocrats@aol.com.

The post-election canvass is when the Office of Elections verifies the vote totals.  It will take place on Wednesday Nov. 4th, Thursday Nov. 5th, and Friday Nov. 6th, each day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Office of Elections, Suite 315-C, Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax.  You may sign up for half-day shifts from either 9 a.m. to Noon, or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  There will be a telephonic training session at 9 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1st.

You do not have to be a lawyer.  You do not have to be a registered voter in Fairfax County.

Please sign up by Friday, Oct. 30th — Telephonic training is Nov. 1st, and you need to be on the list of authorized Democratic Party observers before the post-election canvass begins.

We need more volunteers on Thursday, Nov. 5th and Friday, Nov. 6th.

All campaigns need to send me at least 4 volunteers.

All FCDC magisterial districts need to send me at least 5 volunteers.

At the end of Election Week, as the post-election canvass winds down, let’s not be "Monday morning quarterbacks" — ever hear that one, too?  Instead, let’s be happy we had it covered.

Sincerely, Kristin Cabral, 703-448-0944 (h), 703-434-9784 (cell)

FIREFIGHTERS ENDORSE PRATT

The Virginia Professional Fire Fighters (VPFF) have announced their endorsement of Dr. Carole Pratt for delegate in the sixth district. The organization represents over 7,000 firefighters and EMT’s across Virginia and is supporting Carole because of her proven commitment to public safety.

“I am honored to have the support of our firefighters,” said Carole. “ I am grateful that we have such outstanding public servants in our communities and I am extremely proud to have their endorsement. First responders are there for all of us all the time and I will work to ensure that they have an active voice in the General Assembly.”

“Earning the support of the Virginia Professional Fire Fighters following the endorsement of the Virginia Police Benevolent Association shows that public safety officials are lining up behind Carole,” added campaign manager Eric Hyers. “Carole has the expertise and dedication to fight for the men and women who risk their lives for us.”
