Farm Team endorsed candidate and Richmond School Board member Betsy Carr has a proven track record of initiating innovative, effective partnerships and solutions to benefit the Richmond community and working hard to see that these solutions get accomplished. “I don’t have a reputation for talking a lot, but I listen a lot and I respond”, she says, “and I work and I get things done. That’s how I operate.” Carr is running in the democratic primary on June 9, for the 69th District of the House of Delegates.
The Farm Team Endorses Betsy Carr for HoD #69
RICHMOND — The Farm Team, a statewide organization promoting women Democratic candidates, has endorsed Betsy Carr to succeed retiring Del. Frank Hall in the 69th House of Delegates District.
“Betsy Carr is the perfect candidate to succeed Frank Hall,” said Farm Team co-founder and former Virginia Attorney General Mary Sue Terry. “Betsy shares Frank’s commitment to quality public schools, decent health care for all and sound financial management of the taxpayer’s dollar.”
Betsy Carr, 62, currently serves as a member of the Richmond City school board. She is Outreach Director at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church – located across the street from the State Capitol. She is a co-founder of Richmond’s Micah Initiative, which has brought together 80 faith communities that provide over 1000 tutors and volunteers in partnerships with 25 city elementary schools.
Carr previously worked at the Virginia Museum and at University of Richmond’s Women’s Resource Center. She is also a small business owner. She has three grown sons and one 6-month old grandson.
“I’m proud to have endorsement of The Farm Team, because I believe that Virginia is better when all voices are heard and all points of view are respected,” Carr said.
The 69th House District includes portions of South ichmond, Carytown, Byrd Park, Maymont, Randolph, the Carillon district and Chesterfield County. Hall retired earlier this year after more than 30 years in the House. The Democratic primary to choose his successor will be held on June 9.
