Loudoun County Regional Meeting

Loudoun County Farm Team, East (Taliaferro and Pelletier) and West (Schultz) are meeting on March 10 at the Leesburg Holiday Inn, 1500 East Market Street in Leesburg.  That is east of the bypass on Route 7.  They are working on the road right at that spot.  If you are approaching from the East, you turn in directly, but thee may be red cones there.  If you come from the West, look for a lone stoplight after Battlefield Parkway.  There is a short approach and a left turn light (which never seems to turn green, and I usually run it when no cars are coming–but don’t suggest this!) where you make a u-turn to enter the motel.  It looks like an old house, which it was.  The meeting room can be reached from a stairway at the back of the building on the left.  It goes directly out of the parking area.

Spotlight: Senator Yvonne B. Miller

Senator Yvonne B. Miller’s resume is nothing short of remarkable. The eldest of 13 children, she was born in Edenton, North Carolina, but moved to Norfolk, Va. Faced with segregation and the massive resistance of the times, she earned her teaching degree from Virginia State College in 1956; her Master’s degree from Teachers College, in Columbia University ‘s summer program; joined the faculty at Norfolk State College; and earned her Doctor of Philosophy degree at University of Pittsburgh.

Roanoke Regional Meeting

Please join us for the first Roanoke regional Farm Team meeting on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Hollins Branch library at 6 pm.   We will talk about our goals for our area and learn more about encouraging women to run for office right here at home.

From Interstate 581:
From I-581 (north or south) get off at Exit 2 and go north on Route 117 (Peters Creek Road). Continue on Route 117 for 2 miles (coming from I-581 north) or 1.8 miles (coming from I-581 south). After the third traffic light (at Airport Road), begin to get into the left-hand lane. Cross Barrens Road (at the fourth traffic light). The library is located on the left, following a car dealer and florist. Make a U-turn in front of Oakey’s Funeral Service (North Chapel). The library (6624 Peters Creek Road) is next to Oakey’s.
From Interstate 81:
From I-81 (north or south) get off at Exit 146 (Route 115, Hollins University, Plantation Road). Go east on Route 115 (Plantation Road) to Williamson Road. Turn right on Williamson, heading south. Follow signs that say “To I-581″ and merge (right) into Peters Creek Road. Library is about ½ mile south on Peters Creek Road, on the right hand side just past Oakey’s Funeral Service (North Chapel).
