The transformation made by the Democratic Party of Virginia since 2000 has been nothing short of astounding. Eight years ago, Virginia was believed to be “too red” to be competitive and was not viewed as a key national player. This past Election Day, Barack Obama became the first Democrat in 44 years to carry the Commonwealth. Meanwhile, Mark Warner was elected to the US Senate and Virginia Democrats picked up three congressional seats and control of the delegation! This year, all eyes are on Virginia’s Governor’s race and other statewide and local elections. We must continue investing in Virginia to make sure it stays blue.
The Democratic Party of Virginia’s annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner is the premier Democratic event in the state and will feature the entire Democratic Congressional & State Legislative Delegations. President Bill Clinton will be the keynote speaker.
