The Farm Team Endorses Councilwoman Delores McQuinn for House of Delegates

Richmond, VA – Today The Farm Team, a PAC created to support Democratic women running for office, endorsed Councilwoman Delores McQuinn in her bid to fill the House of Delegates seat vacated by Dwight Jones’ election as Mayor of Richmond.

A firehouse primary will be held Saturday to choose a Democratic nominee and the special election will be held January 6, 2009.

Mary Sue Terry, the founding member of The Farm Team, praised McQuinn for her extensive experience on city council.  “Delores McQuinn is just the type of candidate The Farm Team was founded to help.  McQuinn has served on council and the school board for nearly two decades, and her leadership in Richmond has made a difference in the lives of families.  She pushed for the creation of the East End Teen Center and was successful in restoring funding for the Vernon Harris East End Community Health Center.”

In late September 2008, a small group of women gathered at the farm of the first and only woman elected statewide in Virginia – Mary Sue Terry.  The purpose was to discuss reinvigorating Democratic women into the electorate statewide.  The Farm Team was the result.

Founding Members of The Farm Team are: Mary Sue Terry, Susan Platt, Susan Swecker and Louise Ware.

McQuinn is the first candidate to receive financial support directly from The Farm Team PAC.  Members will be urged to assist McQuinn with their time, their energy and their financial contributions.
